Sentence: A Collection of Words and Lyrics by Young Offenders

November 5, 2012

It’s been a long road.

For those who don’t know, I’ve been involved in the NOW HEAR THIS! young offenders program, a year-long project to bring creative writing workshops to youth in conflict with the law in two Operation Springboard houses. After hours and hours of brainstorming, dialogue, writing and producing, we gathered a unique collection of songs, letters, poems that reflect these youth’s perspective. Sentence: A Collection of Words and Lyrics by Young Offenders is ready for the public.

November 22, 2012 is the CD Launch, the final showcase for this body of work. If you’ve been to a HEAR/HEAR Reading Series, you know that NOW HEAR THIS! knows how to throw down a party. But this event promises to be larger than all the HEAR/HEARs combined!

The four fantastic workshop facilitators: J Wyze, Spin, Jaydahmann and Progress have dedicated their time to working with youth and these four mega-talented artists will grace the stage. Show is at The Revival (783 College Street) from 7pm to 10pm, admission is $10. Select youth poets will bless the mic that evening.
