POEM: temporary fix

June 9, 2011

a tear sits on my table like a tablet

I won’t take it, it’s a temporary fix

an illusion of strength, a sacrifice in a

self-addressed; I punch my jaw as I

pull blankets over me, and knock myself to sleep-

lessness…3am followed by a 59 blink

take a second to think about the next line

to end the stanza without losing balance.

I

I can say a line and swing it in my head

test it, level it

rub it between inner ears, yank it on a page

knowing its already dead

because I don’t love it for what it is

I want perfect only, sorry

I

I’m lucky if I keep a word down

I belong to a writers group and one of our members writes poetry like this, seemingly random structure, un-rhyming and rhythmless. It look a while to grow on me and for me to appreciate it. It’s still growing, like moss.
