A Nerd Moment pt 2.

May 22, 2011

He described circuit boards like some people described icicles. He said that Eskimos had sixty-four words for snow but that didn’t surprise him; he thought they should have more — why not? It was about the deepest sort of beauty, the product of the human mind being stamped onto a piece of silicon that you might one day cart around in your briefcase. A poem in a rock. A theorem in a slice of stone. The programmers were the artisans of the future. Human knowledge is a power, Mama. The only limits are in our minds.

– Exerpt from Colum McCann’s Let the Great World Spin

I am utterly enthralled with this book I’m reading Let the Great World Spin by Colum McCann, who I’ve gushed over in before and is hands down one of my favourite writers of all time. Rarely do I get to geek out in a book but now I totally wanna be a computer programmer. Minus all the math (which I think is most of it, unfortunately). Code is poetry!
